Service Workflow

Full-chain Solutions:

We cover equipment requirements for XR core optical component testing, light engines, semi-finished product precision assembly and finished-product testing, and provide supporting and integration support from standalone machines to complete production lines.

Full-process Technical Support:

Covers all stages from product design, prototyping & verification, mass production to after-sales maintenance. In the design phase, we provide equipment compatibility and manufacturability evaluation. During prototyping, we support process verification and parameter tuning. For mass production, we help stabilize production lines and improve efficiency. At the after-sales stage, we deliver timely response and technical support.

FAQ

Q:Does KTD build complete XR glasses, or optical equipment?
A:KTD does not manufacture AR/VR end-user glasses or finished optical engines. We focus on intelligent manufacturing equipment for core XR optics processes, and provide full-chain mass-production solutions that span optical performance testing of XR core components, fully automated assembly of monochrome and full-color light engines, assembly-and-alignment testing of XR optical modules, and optical performance testing of complete XR glasses. We serve optical engine makers, module makers and brand owners — helping them build XR optics that are accurate, stable and high-yield.
Q:How accurate is KTDs Active Alignment (AA) equipment, and what core pain points does it solve?
A:Our proprietary active optical alignment algorithms support dynamic alignment across multiple degrees of freedom at micron and sub-micron level. Their primary purpose is to eliminate the ghosting, parallax, color misregistration and left-right binocular mismatch that appear once optical engines, lens elements and light-combining prisms are assembled — which makes AA core equipment for mass production of full-color AR optical engines. The 4th-generation Full-Color Light Engine AA Test Line is designed specifically for Micro-LED full-color light engines, balancing high accuracy against mass-production cycle time to keep yield stable across long production runs.
Q:Which XR optical architectures do KTD machines support? Waveguide, Birdbath, LCOS, Micro-LED?
A:We cover the mainstream optical architectures. Our equipment is compatible with Birdbath, freeform, array waveguide and diffractive waveguide designs, while display panels can be LCOS or monochrome / full-color Micro-LED light engines. Standalone machines and full production lines are configured to your requirements, scaling from small-batch R&D prototyping to high-volume mass production.
Q:What metrics does XR optical testing cover, and how does it differ from conventional camera testing?
A:Core XR optical metrics include FOV, luminance, MTF, contrast ratio, distortion, color uniformity, virtual image distance (VID) and eye-box. KTD equipment integrates a proprietary human-eye-simulated vision system that captures images the way the human eye does, reproducing what users actually see when wearing the glasses instead of relying on plain camera-based image inspection. As a result, glare, blur and color banding are identified before the user ever experiences them.
Q:Can I buy a single machine, or do I have to take a complete line?
A:Both models are supported, with flexible delivery. Customers can purchase individual machines, or take a complete standardized full-chain line that connects material verification, optical engine assembly, module alignment and testing, and complete-device inspection, with production data shared across stations to eliminate data silos — well suited to building a new plant from the ground up. Manual loading and automatic loading/unloading configurations are both available.
Q:Can the same KTD equipment be reused from R&D prototyping through to mass production?
A:Yes. Equipment built on the same platform supports small-batch tuning for R&D prototyping; once process parameters are locked in, it can be switched to mass-production mode by upgrade rather than by replacing the entire hardware set. Algorithms and optical calibration parameters are archived and iterated over time, shortening the path from sample validation to production ramp-up and reducing repeat investment.
Q:Does KTD develop its own algorithms? What is the core technical differentiation?
A:All core algorithms are developed in-house — active optical alignment imaging algorithms, optical and motion-control fusion algorithms, AI vision inspection algorithms, and human-eye-simulated optical imaging algorithms. KTD holds 150+ patents and has jointly established R&D centers with CIOMP (Chinese Academy of Sciences), Jiangsu University, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) and others. Unlike general-purpose automation vendors, KTD works on the specific imaging logic of near-eye XR optics: our equipment is purpose-built for virtual-image display, not a retrofitted standard vision machine.
Q:How are after-sales service and process support handled? Do you sell machines without process guidance?
A:Delivery includes equipment commissioning, process training and a documented standard optical test workflow, backed by both remote and on-site technical support. XR optical assembly depends heavily on process know-how, and we are not just a hardware supplier: we work alongside customers on DOE (Design of Experiments) process validation and parameter optimization, resolving process bottlenecks in alignment, bonding, curing and image acceptance criteria, and we keep iterating algorithms and optical tooling over the long term.
Q:Many companies in China build XR optical AA and test equipment. What sets KTD apart?
A:1) An early mover — KTD moved into precision equipment for near-eye XR optics at an early stage, building on more than a decade of optoelectronic automation experience. 2) Full-chain coverage — from core components through complete-device inspection, a closed-loop solution. 3) A human-eye-simulated test methodology that stays closer to the end user's actual visual experience. 4) Proven mass-production cases — volume shipments to leading XR optics customers in China and overseas. 5) Domestic development with full in-house control of algorithms, motion control and optical design, enabling fast response to customization and iteration — a good fit for China's fast-moving full-color AR optical engine programs.
